i looove this article, personally. Kinda long, but worth a read.
http://www.competitivedge.com/content/the-heart-and-soul-mental-toughness-staying-relaxed-under-pressure-and-concentration
SUMMARY (don't be lazy and read the summary 1st, cos u won't understand.)
Relaxing
don't worry! always have "good nervous"
1) Read yourself, switch yourself to "good nervous" (focus on urself) when being in "bad nervous". focus on yourself and nothing else. dun think about future or the past but NOW.
2) switch away from uncontrollables, don't think about goals, outcomes, screwing up.
3) Relaxation techniques
- Distract yourself by talking.
-listening to music
-"Ritual"
-Stretch with awareness
-deliberately slow/deepened breathing.
-tighten tight muscles
-accept that u are nervous
-go to a "safe relaxing place".
Concentration
Regularly do the concentration exercise.
don't think of "what ifs"
don't waste time thinking of uncontrollables.
-time-think of NOW.
-place- think of YOU and what u are doing in the moment.
must recognise that u lost concentration and must go back to being focused.
