hi crossies, glad to help you guys!!! i see that in training you guys don't do your best most of the time, so maybe i can give you a few training tips, to push yourselves every training!
TRAINING TIPS
1) first of all, TRAIN AS YOU WOULD COMPETE.
Remember the sport article 'The psychology of winning'? READ THAT AGAIN, and you will know what i mean. You must try to do your best every training!! like really push!! Here's a suggestion how: Try to keep up with me and Janell! Keep up with us till the end! Trust me, it will work wonders! Not only you can push yourself, you will gain confidence and self-accomplishment!!! (you surely can improve your time this way.) I remember 2 years ago, during Mr Quek's era, when he asks me to pace with the Raffles guys and girls, I made myself do that! Don't you love the feeling when you can run WITH someone older and faster than you? Since we don't have Raffles JC guys and girls to train with us anymore, please MAKE AND EFFORT TO RUN WITH ME AND JANELL!!! It's better than none and this helps you improve. i'm very worried for you juniors after we, the Sec 4s, leave. Please "make use of us" before we leave MG ok ?
2) When running with a 'partner' during training, please do not WAIT for her when she falls behind.
Unless she FALLS DOWN (hope that dosen't happen) You don't wait for her to catch up with you to start running together again. I'm talking about long distance run, when we usually get a partner to run together so that we can pace each other? YES, THE PURPOSE IS TO PACE EACH OTHER. If halfway during the run you speed up and run ahead of your partner, continue running that speed, push yourself! Don't wait for her to catch up! This way will not help you and your partner! Go on, run ahead of your partner, test each other's stamina! your partner who falls behind will try to catch up with you, don't worry about her! In the case you are the person who falls behind your partner, try to catch up with her! this way you can improve and push yourself too!
REMEMBER: IN A REAL COMPETITION NO ONE IS GONNA WAIT FOR YOU! THEY'LL ALL BE HUNGRY TO WIN!!!
i always see you guys running in pairs so i thought i should share this.
here's a suggestion again: remember Mr koh told his Cath boys to run as a group? the purpose is to let them push and run to their limits! Here's the theory: one, when a runner sees a person catching up from behind, he tries to run away from him. (He pushes himself to run faster). Two, when the second runner sees the first runner running ahead of him, he tries to keep up. (He pushes himself to run faster)
Hence my suggestion is: we should try to run as close as a group as possible!! WE CAN IMPROVE THIS WAY.
Bottom Line:
1) Push yourself each training so that you can automatically do well during crunch time.
2) Help yourself and others by running ahead or catching up each other.
